Jamie is the President of the Students’ Union for 2020-1 and is the Chair of the Trustee Board. He is also Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk and Service Development Committees, and sits on the Health & Safety Committee. As President of the Students’ Union, he is also a University Governor. Jamie is passionate about student representation, having been a Chair of School and a member of the University’s Quality & Standards Committee. He has been engaged in a variety of student activities including being a student ambassador, a Committee Officer for YSJ Badminton Club, and an event host for the Students’ Union.
Amanda joined the Trustee Board in 2020 as an External Trustee. She sits on the Elections and Health & Safety Committees. Originally from Cornwall and elected to Sabbatical Offices in Falmouth and Exeter, Amanda is currently Chair of the British Youth Council, where she has overseen a significant period of change; the introduction of new strategies and initiatives to help young people advise the Government of the day on a broad range of topics. Amanda also works in politics, particularly on social mobility, and as senior management in the People’s Vote Campaign.
Louise joined the Trustee Board in 2019 as an External Trustee. She sits on the People & Culture Committee
Jenny is the President of Education for 2020-1, having been elected to the role for a second term. She is the Chair of the People & Culture Committee and sits on the Service Development Committee. Jenny studied Religion, Philosophy & Ethics at York St John from 2016-19. She has a specific interest in democracy and representation, and she is keen to help provide alternative prospects and advice when decisions are to be made. Jenny supports the Trustee Board to represent all students and uses her own personal experiences as a student to inform that support and to enhance the Trustee Board’s understanding and embedding of the Students’ Union’s values in all it does.
Katherine joined the Trustee Board in 2020 as an External Trustee. She sits on the Finance, Audit & Risk and Service Development Committees. After receiving a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of York, Katherine now works with East Riding of Yorkshire Council as a Business Change Manager. Katherine brings her expertise in change management and experience in local government to the Trustee Board. She is also a non-executive director of Yorkshire Country Cricket Club and teaches at the University of York.
Emma is the President of Wellbeing & Diversity for 2020-1. She is Chair of the Health & Safety Committee and sits on the Finance, Audit & Risk and People & Culture Committees. Emma has served on committees for six years and is committed to working with the best interests of the Students’ Union at heard. Her experience as a student helps her understand how decisions are made that will affect the long-term health of the student body. Emma works alongside other representatives to be a voice for students on the Trustee Board.
Andreas joined the Trustee Board in 2020 as a Student Trustee. He sits on the Finance, Audit & Risk and People & Culture Committees. Andreas completed his undergraduate degree at York St John and is now studying for a master’s degree in Marketing. He has three years’ corporate experience in communications and engagement, and, alongside his experience as a student, it is this knowledge and skillset that he brings to the Trustee Board. He is lately Deputy Chair of the Student Council and is presently Charity Officer for YSJ Boat Club.
Richard joined the Trustee Board in 2016 as an External Trustee and has served for three years as its Deputy Chair. He sits on the Health & Safety and Service Development Committees.
Mike joined the Trustee Board in 2017 as an External Trustee. He sits on the Finance, Audit & Risk and People & Culture Committees. After holding roles at the Higher Education Academy and Equality Challenge Unit was University Secretary at Leeds Metropolitan University, and subsequently Independent Assessor to the Student Loans Company. Mike was also a Magistrate in Leeds and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is presently Chair of Unipol Student Homes, a charitable housing company serving thousands of students in Leeds, Bradford, and Nottingham. He brings to the Trustee Board his longstanding commitment and respect of the crucial work of Students’ Unions for their communities.
Aimee joined the Trustee Board in 2020 as a Student Trustee. She sits on the Health & Safety and Service Development Committees. Aimee has been a student at York St John since 2018 studying Drama: Education & Community and is also the Chair of the School of Arts, having previously been an Academic Representative for her school. Aimee is keenly interested in helping students benefit from the social capital of university life alongside their academic study and ensuring that academic study is the best it can be.
