SPORT & SOCS | BUCS WEEK 5 RESULTS!
We are back again with another update on BUCS, this week marked the fifth week of fixtures and it was yet another week of excitement!
There were 17 fixtures taking place this week, see below for a full breakdown of results;
Badminton only had their Women’s 1st Team playing this week and unfortunately they lost 5-3 to University of Chester. Basketball Men’s 1s also fought hard but were unlucky to lose 109-26 to University of Manchester.
Our Men’s Football 1st Team lost 3-2 to University of Newcastle, but our Men’s Football 2nd Team who are covered by i2i smashed it by winning 4-3 in an exciting match against University of Sunderland. However, the most significant moment for Men’s Football this week was up at Haxby Road where it was YSJ Men’s Football 4s vs YSJ Men’s Football 6 s in a tense league match. Our 6th team surprised the 4th team by pulling it out the bag and beating them with a 2-1 win!
Women’s Football came out of a very good game against University of Sheffield with a 2-2 draw which resulted in penalties. YSJ smashed it with a 4-1 penalty win, congrats ladies! It was great to see such a good result on #GirlsFootballWeek. Our Women’s Hockey team travelled all the way to Bangor but unfortunately lost 5-1 to the opposition.
Netball 1st Team had their first win of the academic year by smashing it 43-33 against University of Newcastle. Our 2nd Team lost 38-29 against University of Liverpool. 3rd Team also were victorious with a massive 47-22 win against Edge Hill University and our 5th team lost 33-11 against University of Hull.
Men’s Rugby Union 1st team lost 40-15 to Leeds Beckett University, and Women’s Rugby Union were also unfortunate with a 41-19 loss to UCLAN.
Ultimate Frisbee were thrilled with their first win of the year, they demolished Northumbria University with a 15-2 victory, well done guys! Also, a big shout out to Women’s Volleyball who also travelled all the way to Bangor and bagged a 3-2 victory whilst they were there. Tennis unfortunately lost 8-4 to Huddersfield.
It seems only fair to give BUCS Team of the Week (#BUCSTOTW) to our Men’s Football 6th Team for their impressive 2-1 win against the 4th team. An amazing game to watch with an unexpected but deserved result!
Well done everyone, another cracking BUCS week! Next week is a quieter one due to Reading Week; however we still have some fixtures happening so keep your eyes peeled! Good Luck to everybody taking part in BUCS next Wednesday, we look forward to seeing the results.
