What’s On After Refreshers?
Semester 2 is well under way now with Refresher’s week over and the hard work really setting in again – but don’t worry, we’ve still got a jam-packed calendar of fun for you to reward yourselves with! Here’s a breakdown of some of the events coming up in February, but make sure you check out our and page to stay up to date with even more!
Karaoke Nights | Saturdays | 19.00 | SU Coffee Lounge
How many songs have been sung about Saturday nights? It’s our favourite night of the week too, so come on down and sing your heart out! We’ve got the mic, the stage, and the drinks deals, and we’ll be here every week until Easter Archie’s!

Did you love our Refresher’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine quiz? Well, there’s plenty more where that came from! Our Pub Quiz nights are every Tuesday, and we’ve got a huge variety planned for you, from us, and from your Sports and Societies to raise money for charity!
Feb 12th | Men’s Rugby Union’s charity quiz
Men’s Rugby Union are hosting a classic pub quiz night, with surprise things, so you’d better make sure that your general knowledge is up to scratch! Bring your friends and see who is the ultimate old school pub quiz chamption!
Feb 19th | Harry Potter quiz
It’s Elections week, so first of all make sure that you’ll be voting if you haven’t already, and secondly make sure you’re coming to our magical quiz! We’ll be testing you knowledge of everyone’s favourite wizards and witches, magical creatures, spells, and more, so join in for your chance to win a pitcher of potion!
Feb 26th | Sissy That Quiz
The LGBTQ+ Society invite you to test your knowledge of RuPaul’s Drag Race in this week’s quiz! Drag is a huge part of LGBTQ+ culture, but how much do you know? Whether you’re an expert, a casual fan, or just up for a fun night, join us to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with this quiz, raffle, and great prizes! All proceeds will be going towards the Queer Women and Gender Group’s Queer Space Project, and ‘may the best woman win!’
And they’re just our regular events! We’ve got even more going on that are one-offs, so you’ll definitely want to make sure these are in your social calendar!
Feb 13th | Art and Design Soc’s Galentine’s Day | 18.00
Celebrate Galentine’s Day with the Art and Design Society with a night of classic romcoms, popcorn, and your flatmate, best friend, course mate, partner, family, or anyone who you want to celebrate love with! All proceeds will be going to SASH, so it’ll be an even better way to spend the evening with your Galentine in our Coffee Lounge!
Feb 15th | Ladies’ Football Lip Sync Battle | 19.00
Ladies’ Football are back with their annual charity lip sync battle, this year in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and Once Upon a Smile! Get your best dance moves ready if you want to compete, or make sure you come along and cheer on your friends! It’s just £1/2 entry (if you’re competing or not) for a good cause and a great night!
Feb 22nd | Elections Results Night | 19.00
It’s the night when all is revealed! Who will be the next team to lead the SU in 2019-2020? Make sure you keep up to date with the voting process and all the candidates leading up to tonight, and vote wisely! Then, come along to our Coffee Lounge for the big reveal and celebrate with us!
Feb 24th | The Oscars | All night!
We’ll be opening our doors on Sunday 24th February to get ready to watch every film lover’s favourite event, the 91st Academy Awards! Whether you come for the controversy, the sappy speeches, or to celebrate your favourite film of 2018, we’ll be right there with you. The stars will be in their best outfits, but you’ll probably want to make sure you’re cosy instead – it’ll be a long night!
Feb 28th | YSJSU Unplugged | 19.00
Our monthly open mic night is back – and so soon after Refresher’s! Even better! We’ll be switching it up this month and going completely unplugged – that means it’s all you!
