WellU | Wellbeing Festival
Published: 13th March 2019, 8:00am
This time last week YSJSU held its first, ever Wellbeing Festival. We had an amazing turn out of over 130 students and staff members which is incredible for the first year of hosting the event. We all had a great day celebrating mental wellbeing and we hope you did too!
So, what was the event in aid of?
YSJSU wanted to hold an event to provide students and staff with information about mental wellbeing / health issues, places to seek advice, charities to get involved with, celebrating local companies within the community that provide help and advice to individuals as well as having a day where you can take away some of the seriousness of university and have a laugh. We had an array of stalls including North Yorkshire Police, Pure Gym, Filmore and Union, Mind, Student Minds and many more. Not only this but we also had a rodeo bull, a mindful corner, a photo booth and a free hog roast and vegan curry.
With an increasing rise of mental health conditions in students in the U.K. it is really important to know where you can gain help and support and also where you can direct others suffering. By participating in events such as the Wellbeing Festival you are helping yourself and others remove the stigma of mental health conditions.
