[RE] MEET YOUR PRESIDENT OF EDUCATION!
After every single election at YSJSU, we always try and catch up with the winners so that you can get to know them a little better. This year we saw two of the current team re-run & get re-elected, but we still thought it would be a good idea to ask them a few silly questions, as well as some serious ones, so you could get to know them all over again!
So.. Who are you?
I’m Steph Foxton, your current and incoming President of Education
If you could pick one movie character who represents you, who would it be and why?
I’d have to say Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon because I can be really dopey sometimes but then I can be fierce when necessary!
Who would you want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island?
I was planning on saying my boyfriend Nick but if you’re stranded on a deserted island you need to survive so I want to say Bear Grylls
What is your favourite book / author?
I’ve set myself the New Year’s Resolution of reading a new book every month so I’ve just finished Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty and dear lord it was phenomenal!
What does your perfect day look like?
Waking up late, then taking a long walk along a beach or forest with my dogs and I’d then have a really tasty roast dinner finishing with a cosy night by a fireplace watching my favourite film, Pride & Prejudice. Bliss!
Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
I want to travel the world one day and see everywhere. But right now I really want to go to Italy.
Who is your role model, and why?
My role model is my Mum as she is so strong and inspiring. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be half the woman I am today.
What song or album instantly transports you to a happy place?
Anything from Electric Light Orchestra or Billy Joel as it reminds me of going on long country drives with my Dad.
Your final meal ever… what would it be?
Ok so starters would be a giant Yorkshire pudding with pigs and blankets and gravy. Main would be a katsu curry from Wagamamas with extra side salad as their salad dressing is amazing! And desert would be either a rhubarb or apple crumble with ice cream and warm custard.
Summer or Winter Archies Day?
What’s been your favourite YSJ Memory?
Being a part of the hockey club was the best thing that ever happened. I’m so excited for Old John’s so I get to be reunited again with those girls.
Why did you decide to run for this role?
Because I’m already in the role so I have the experience and I am passionate about what we do here at the SU – make a positive difference to your student experience.
What do you hope to achieve?
FREE PRINTING! And also put into place mental health first aid for training for academic staff so that students have extra support.
