Hi guys, just a little update on my past month as Chair of School. I know the next few months may be stressful as we are approaching the last few months of the academic year. I can imagine you are getting involved in lots of different things and events; but remember to always take time out and look after yourself.
Recently, I sat on the ADC Student and Staff Engagement Committee Meeting a couple of weeks ago discussing students feedback from before Christmas and how this has been acted upon. Your voice has been heard, improvements have been made and we hope we can continue to act on your feedback. It is so useful to hear all your feedback and important for us to act on it, to enhance your student experience here at YSJ. You can send me feedback via email ([email protected]) or Facebook (@CHAIROFADC) or you can visit me at any upcoming Education Zones (Wed, 13th March).
We also had another Executive council since I last wrote my blog. We spoke about and discussed new and old bylaws that help form the ‘rules’ behind your degrees, teaching and any SU activity. I enjoy getting an insight into the background of York St John through sitting on Exec Council. It is really interesting to hear feedback, changes and new ideas forming from a first-hand view.
A couple of weeks ago, I also held a social for all members of the ADC School. We met up in the Students’ Union Bar and spent the evening getting to know new people within different courses of the ADC School. Keep an eye out for the next social and make sure you come along and get involved.
As you all may already know, we held the annual Students’ Union Elections last week. It was an amazing week for all students and specifically the Candidates running. It was a week full of meeting new people, talking to everyone and getting to have your opinion. I am proud to say that I have a replacement for my position for when I leave in a few months’ time. As voted in by you! Raana Jefferson will be your next Chair of School for Art and Design for 2019/2020 Academic year. I am so proud of Raana and her campaign; and I am delighted to be handing over the reins to an enthusiastic Graphic’s student who is keen to represent you.
Remember too say Hi if you see me around Uni and I hope to see you all soon.
Thanks guys, Amy
