Sport & Socs | BUCS Week 4 Results!
Well, the first few weeks of BUCS have been full of excitement and we thought it was about time we started keeping track of everything that is happening!
This week, we had 24 fixtures all together taking place and there were some great results! Below is the breakdown of results and some of the key highlights;
Badminton had a cracking week with two wins; their first team fought hard against Durham University winning 5-3, and their Women’s team absolutely smashed it by winning an impressive 8-0.
Basketball Men’s had a tough match and unfortunately lost 116-20 to Durham University. However, Basketball Women’s won 61-30 against University of Huddersfield which was a great result!
There were some amazing results for our Men’s Football teams this week. Men’s 1st won 2-0 against Teesside University, Men’s 3rd team smashed it by winning 11-0 against University of Bradford, our 4th team were also victorious with a 4-2 win against University of Hull, the 6th team brought home a 5-0 win and the 7th team beat University of Hull 5-1! The 5th team unfortunately lost 2-1 to Teesside University, and the 2nd team drew 3-3 against Durham University. Excellent results boys!
Women’s Football played very well but lost 5-1 to Sheffield Hallam University. Our Women’s Hockey team had a tense match which resulted in a 5-5 draw against Teesside University. Men’s Hockey lost 4-1 to University of Leeds.
Netball had three successful wins, 2nd team won 27-24 against University of Huddersfield, 4th team absolutely bossed it with a 50-27 win against University of Hull and our 5th team also beat University of Sunderland 25-23! Our 1st team had a difficult match against University of Sheffield resulting in a 62-28 loss, as well as our 3rd team who also played University of Sheffield and unfortunately lost 46-32.
Men’s Rugby Union 1st team were again victorious, beating our rivals University of York with an outstanding 43-17 win. Our 2nd team were not as lucky, losing 103-0 to Teesside University.
Three of our teams had difficult games this week against University of Hull. Ultimate Frisbee lost 15-1, and both our Men’s and Women’s Volleyball lost 3-0 against them too.
However, there was one team that stood out this week as BUCS Team of the Week (#BUCSTOTW) and that was Women’s Rugby Union 1st. It was their first match of the year, and they absolutely smashed it by beating Northumbria University 67-0!! What an amazing result. Well done girls, keep up the good work!
