What is an Academic Rep?
It is really important that students have a voice at university. This is for the benefit of making the academic university experience the best it can be for YSJ. Studying and gaining that degree is an important (but not the only) part of your university journey; it makes sense then that Academic Reps be in place to improve and enhance your learning and teaching
Academic Reps play an important part in creating a better university for everyone and work together to ensure students are equally represented, no matter what the degree, or the level.
Who is my Rep?
Your reps are there to talk and take your feedback. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to see them face to face, but we have a way to tackle that.
So, you want to know who your rep is? Follow the link below, log-in and you should see your Chair of School and your Academic Reps!
How does my Rep help me?
Reps work by gaining feedback from students on the course and there are a number of ways to give this to them.
Talk directly to your Academic Rep Social Media outlets Mid-modular evaluations Students’ Union Education Zone Moodle forums
Once they have your feedback, your reps will work with the President of Education, Chair of School and staff of the school to make sure you are listened to and your voice is heard.
How do I become a Rep?
We elect reps at the start of the academic year (September – October) by coming into class and taking interest from students. The number of reps we elect are based on the size of the class, so there is always a chance to get involved.
If you are interested in becoming a rep, look out for us in class, e-mail your Head of Programme or the President of Education, Steph Foxton @ firstname.lastname@example.org
