Keeping You Safe
Keeping You Safe
This year will be a little different than other years, however we’re committed to making it memorable and enjoyable for everyone. Your health and safety is of paramount importance to us and we want to share some of the measures and rules that are in place to keep you safe. We believe that these will still allow students to enjoy the venue, activities and events.
All activities and events at the Students’ Union will be conducted in accordance with the relevant guidance published by UK Government. Changes have been made to our day to day operations and events to comply with social distancing guidance. We will amend our practices accordingly in line with changes made to Government guidance as it becomes available.
Entry and Social Distancing
The Students’ Union has created defined zones to aid social distancing measures and has introduced capacity limits throughout the venue. A one-way system will be in place within the Bar and the Coffee Lounge.
We will be using a track and trace service which can be accessed through QR codes around the venue. Please assist us in keeping you safe by using the track and trace service.
When you attend our venue, please do not enter in groups of more than 6. Groups in excess of this are illegal and will not be admitted into the Students’ Union or Students’ Union events.
The toilets will use a queuing system to ensure that social distancing is maintained.
Toilet facilities will be undergoing a daily steam cleaning procedure and there will be ongoing cleaning in high-traffic areas. Surfaces that are frequently touched, such as door handles and furniture, will also be subject to frequent cleaning throughout the day.
Hand sanitiser pump action containers are available in all main travel routes through our venue, including at entrances and exits.
The Bar will open from 4pm and entry before this time will not be permitted.
There will be a one-way system which attendees must follow at all times. Indoor and outdoor seating is limited to a maximum of 6 people and furniture may not be moved. We ask that groups sitting indoors are from the same household or support bubble.
In the interest of hygiene, menus and notices will be sanitised before and after tables are occupied. Table service will be the only format of service available and will be facilitated via a mobile app. We ask that no more than one member of your party leaves the table at one time.
Cashless payments are encouraged and there is no minimum spend on card.
Info Point & Coffee Lounge
Info Point and the Coffee Lounge will have shorter opening hours Monday to Friday, with Info Point open between 10am-2pm and the Coffee Lounge open between 10am-4pm.
A one-way system will also be in place in the Coffee Lounge and it will be operating a takeaway service only. Cashless payments are encouraged and there is no minimum spend on card.
Leaving Our Venue
When leaving our venue, please respect all members of staff and follow their instructions and use the one-way systems. If you are leaving campus, please consider our neighbours in the city by acting in a respectful manner, following Government guidelines and the law at all time.
