CEO Blog | The Big Sleepout!
I wanted to let you know about a fundraising campaign I’m involved in. I’m taking part in the York CEO Sleepout. The CEO Sleepout was set up a couple of years back by an interesting guy called Andy Preston. He set up the campaign to massage the ego’s of senior managers, directors etc into taking some action on the issue of homelessness. He recognised that senior managers are often able to mobilise significant funds and influence key decision makers because of the circles we move in.
Homelessness is of interest to me as it has affected a family member of mine previously. Seeing this family member struggle and suffer brought this topic to my attention and so I’m wanting to support others in similar situations. You’ll be pleased to know that said family member is no longer homeless and doing amazingly well in life and making me and the rest of the family very proud indeed.
So, I’m now due to sleep out overnight for 1 night with a bunch of CEO’s and senior managers from in and around York at York Racecourse on the 16th of April. Each participant is being tasked with fundraising a minimum of £1,000. Along with some corporate sponsorships as a group we are hoping to raise a minimum of £100,000 in York alone with other CEO Sleepouts across the country planned.
It would be great if you could support this cause, only if you want and can afford, there’s no expectation or judgement; but if you can then my JustGiving page can be found here:
JustGiving sends your donation straight to CEO Sleepout and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
You could also get involved yourself as there’s other events planned in a range of UK city’s; more details about other CEO Sleepout’s can be found at http://www.ceosleepoutuk.com You can also find out more about the York event and the other CEO’s and senior managers who are taking part here: http://www.ceosleepoutuk.com/york/
Thanks in advance for your sponsorship and support,
CEO of York St John Student’s Union.
