YSJ Walking Society is a first year society which offers all students opportunities to build friendships with one another whilst exploring York and the surrounding countryside beyond the walls of YSJ. The walking society aims to give students a chance to clear their heads and escape from the stress of work every now and then whilst keeping fit, making new friends and discovering some beautiful countryside. We will be providing opportunities for both short and longer walks in York and further afield on a regular basis.

Longer walks will take place on Saturdays, although afternoon walks in York may take place on Wednesdays or Sundays. As a first year society, we don't receive any funding so costs towards short bus/train journeys will need to be paid by members. A full year's membership costs only £3 as we want everyone to feel this is something worth doing. We welcome experienced walkers as well as those who can't tell north from south! Every member's ideas will be valued as we all pull together to make YSJ walking society brilliant.
